Cortland Credit Group Inc. — Managing Director & Head of U.S. Operations

Corporate Finance / Investment Banking / Capital Markets

Job Description
Location: United States

Cortland Credit is a leading Canadian private debt asset manager with a primary investment strategy to fund the growth of small and medium enterprises around the globe (Canada, US, UK, and Western Europe) through flexible debt capital. Cortland provides working capital customized to borrowers’ needs to help growing SMEs and lower middle market companies achieve their business goals. The company has a 10-year history of providing strong, low volatility returns to its investors while employing a conservative fixed-income strategy of providing borrowing base margined loans, senior-secured against short-term working capital. Cortland’s debt origination team has extensive experience structuring complex financing solutions for companies with annual revenues of $25 million to $1.5 billion, providing short term loans, revolvers, enterprise value loans, warehouse facilities, acquisition financing, inventory financing, project financing, and project order financing.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Managing Director & Head of US Operations will play a key leadership role to help develop Cortland’s US operations. You will lead Cortland’s US operations and work closely with the leadership team to set up distribution networks nationally across the US to attract investor capital, while working closely with external legal counsel, tax, and fund administration resources to provide Cortland’s offerings through its US Fund.

As the ideal candidate, you must have extensive experience in raising capital in alternative strategies with institutional and wealth management platforms in the US, while demonstrating a solid understanding of the credit markets.

You must have strong leadership acumen with at least 5-10 years in a leadership role. You must also have strong sales and operational experience, strong understanding of the regulatory frameworks across the US for fund administration and distribution, and must understand the nuances of regulatory and reporting requirements for funds. You must be eligible to work in the US and will be required to travel throughout the US and Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the strategic expansion of a leading debt asset manager with a history of providing strong, low volatility returns to its investors.
