June 15, 2021 - Toronto, ON
Announcement by Dr. Kathryn Nichol, President and CEO, VHA Home HealthCare:
It gives me great pleasure to announce that DAVID FRY will be joining the senior management team of VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) in the position of Vice President, Client Services. David will begin in the role on July 12, 2021.
David comes to VHA with extensive home care leadership experience and a track record of building strong connections with partners, developing and enabling innovative programs and delivering meaningful outcomes for clients and providers. An inspiring and energetic leader with a passion for client and family-centred care and a commitment to excellence in home care, David will be important contributor to helping VHA achieve its mission of creating possibilities for more independence, championing the needs of our clients and families and delivering high quality, integrated care.
“I am thrilled to be joining the team at VHA!” shared David Fry. “VHA’s commitment to supporting clients, families and team members in providing spectacular care every day is inspiring to me. The pandemic brought unprecedented demands on Ontario’s health system and I appreciate how challenging the pandemic response has been, as VHA’s teams continued to deliver high quality care and be an important “lifeline” for many vulnerable clients and families. I look forward to working closely with the Client Services team, and other teams and partners, as we continue together to advance the good work already underway that will enhance capacity and creativity in delivering meaningful home and community care experiences.”
Most recently, David held the role of Chief Innovation and Operations Officer at CarePartners where his portfolio included patient care operations, professional practice and healthcare transformation, as well as pandemic prioritization and preparations for Ontario Health Team participation. Prior to that, David was Vice President, Home and Community Care at the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network for many years where he delivered measurable improvements in staff and client experiences and increased consistency in frontline care coordination. David’s varied experience also includes roles at the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres and Ontario Shores and he has practiced occupational therapy in both hospital and home care settings. David holds Master of Health Science, Health Administration, Health Policy Management & Evaluation and Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degrees from the University of Toronto and has received multiple awards for his work on coordinated care initiatives.
I believe David’s demonstrated expertise driving strategic improvements in home and community care services including the successful implementation of creative models of care will be of tremendous value to VHA. He also has a broad network that already includes many of VHA’s partners and a keen insight into the challenges and opportunities for home care in Ontario. His proven experience providing inspiring leadership to large, diverse teams will make him a great leader and supporter for our dedicated staff and service providers. And his alignment with VHA’s values and his unwavering focus on collaboration together with operational excellence make him an excellent fit for the organization and an important asset in driving our work forward.
As we welcome David to VHA, we would also like to recognize the significant contributions of Barbara Cawley, who is retiring at the beginning of July as she celebrates an impressive 45 years as an Occupational Therapist this year. Barbara’s warm, empathetic approach has made her a wonderful partner and colleague, a fierce champion for our clients and families and an amazing leader and mentor. We thank Barbara and wish her a wonderful time on the golf course this summer.
Thank you for your support of VHA’s new VP, Client Services and for your ongoing partnership as we work together to make care better for the people of Ontario.
