After a national search, I am pleased and honoured to share that Ms. Brooke Cowell has been appointed to the position of Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Executive.
A Registered Nurse trained in emergency and critical care, Brooke has served with distinction at St. Joe’s for over 20 years. Having served in a variety of leadership positions in mental health, renal, complex care, and patient flow, Brooke has demonstrated a commitment to operational excellence and professional practice, while empowering teams that continually deliver high quality, safe, and respectful care. Educated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Business Administration, Brooke also has led corporate support areas such as Labour Relations. Brooke’s rounded experience and deep knowledge of our values make her the ideal leader to take SJHH into the future, as we collectively strive towards our goals of being a high reliability organization and Canada’s leading mission-based academic health science centre.
To assist Brooke and the Executive Leadership Team in ensuring a smooth transition, Linda Calhoun has agreed to remain with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton until the end of August. Brooke will assume leadership of the clinical operations and CNE portfolio on September 1, 2024.
