Boyden is pleased to share the appointment news of Len Rhodes, a recruitment led by Kevin Gregor
Calgary, AB - April 24, 2020
The Board of Directors of the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary (CSI Calgary) is pleased to announce that Len Rhodes has been appointed the President & Chief Executive Officer of CSI Calgary effective July 1, 2020.
Board Chair Cheryl Sandercock said, "We are thrilled to welcome Len as our new CEO. We are confident that under Len's experienced leadership, we will continue to build on the excellent work Dale Henwood and our team do with Canadian high-performance athletes, coaches and stakeholders. We cannot say enough to commend and thank Dale for his success in building CSI Calgary from its origins as the National Multi-Sport Development Centre Calgary 26 years ago to the leading Institute it is today."
Mr. Rhodes brings to CSI Calgary considerable senior management experience in professional sports leadership and sports product marketing. He began his career in sales and marketing and held a number of leadership roles with Reebok-CCM Hockey before becoming President & CEO of the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club in 2011, a position he held until 2019. Mr. Rhodes is currently Board Chair of the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission and in that capacity sits on the Board of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.
His appointment was the result of a nation-wide search conducted by the Board of Directors following the announcement in 2019 of the intended retirement of CEO Dale Henwood in July 2020. Dale and Len will work together on a smooth leadership transition commencing June 1, 2020.
"I am excited to help build upon the success that CSI Calgary has established as a key contributor to Canada's world-leading Olympic and Paralympic podium performances," said Len Rhodes, incoming President & Chief Executive Officer.
