The Town of Strathmore has announced Kevin Scoble to be its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), filling the position on a full-time, permanent basis.
Previously, the position was held by acting CAO Doug Lagore, who has served on a contract since early August 2020. He was initially stationed by the Town following a staffing change during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lagore was appointed CAO by Town Council in February from a previously interim station. Lagore held the station following James Thackray, who stepped down from the position prior.
As of September, the discussion for who would replace Lagore had already been ongoing for several months.
“On behalf of Council, I am happy to congratulate Kevin Scoble on his successful appointment as Strathmore’s new CAO,” said Mayor Pat Fule.
“He brings an impressive wealth of knowledge and experience to our community and has a solid reputation as an innovative leader.”
Scoble currently serves as the CAO for the City of St. Albert and boasts a portfolio showcasing three decades of leadership in municipal and private sector organizations.
According to the Town of Strathmore, he is also highlighted by a record of collaboration and joint ventures between private enterprise, regional partners and the Province of Alberta.
Scoble’s appointment to the position concludes a thorough recruitment process led by Boyden Executive Search. Candidates from across Canada had been reviewed by Council and senior members of the Town’s staff throughout the recruitment process.
“I especially offer our gratitude to Doug Lagore for serving as CAO during this transition period. Doug’s leadership during a challenging period brought stability, foresight and expert guidance to the Town of Strathmore,” said Fule.
The Town did not disclose in their press release when exactly Scoble would officially start and take over as Chief Administrative Officer from Lagore.
A request for decision is scheduled for the Dec. 1 Strathmore Town Council meeting during which agenda item number 8.5 pertains to the CAO appointment with a recommendation “THAT Council appoint Mr. Kevin Ccoble as the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer in accordance with the Municipal Government Act …” During which time council will also choose an effective start date.
