Presented in partnership by Boyden Global Executive Search and Interim Search, Årets Förändringsledare recognizes leadership across several categories.

April 28, 2021 - Today, we proudly announce Ericsson's President and CEO, Börje Ekholm, as the recipient of the Change Leader of the Year Award - Large Companies, recognizing his successful leadership of staff and operations, despite the pandemic's major challenges.

The Awards Jury shares their motivation for this year's celebrated recipient, Börje Ekholm:

"During the year, Börje Ekholm has shown exceptional ability to lead his organization during a period of significant external influence. He has set an example in rapidly and efficiently transforming the business and enabling teleworking for 100,000 employees spread across 180 countries. Under Börje's leadership, Ericson has had a positive share development and loss has turned to profit and the ambitious investment in the 5G network ensures continued growth. He is described as a down-to-earth rock star who is accessible to everyone, with a straightforward image and as a confident leader in both success and adversity."

The Change Leader of the Year Award recognizes business leaders who, in times of change, have led their team and operations in an inspiring and successful way. The award also reflects the company’s positive impact on society. This is the sixth year that the Change Leader of the Year Award has been presented.

The Change Leader of the Year - Large Companies is the first of three categories to be awarded.  As in previous years, the awards are presented across the following categories: Large Companies, Medium-sized Companies, with one final category reflecting a unique theme for the year. This year, we present the Crisis Manager of the Year category.

Successful change management is among the most demanding in the business world. About Årets Förändringsledare / Change Leader of the Year Awards

Awards Criteria

The jury analyzes the candidates from three perspectives:

  1. Internal influence. This refers to results achieved by the change leader in his own organization through changes that have positively affected the financial result, staff, organization, etc.
  2. External influence. How the person's change management has successfully affected external stakeholders and contributed to society at large.
  3. Personality. The jury also weighs personality and the degree to which the candidate has acted as an example with a positive, engaging and inspiring way.
