Introduction

Our client is a publicly traded, world-class B2B industrial company with a global footprint. With nearly $3 billion in revenues, they provide highly engineered processing equipment and systems found on manufacturing floors across various industries, including durable plastics, food processing, and recycling. While they offer new equipment, they also have a robust aftermarket parts and service business. The company employs over 10,000 people and operates in more than 60 locations worldwide.

The Challenge

Under the typical pressure of managing too many direct reports, the CEO needed to create a new role. They required a leader to manage segments of the business totaling almost $1.5 billion of the company’s revenue. As SVP and Division President, this new leader would oversee three presidents within the segment, providing the necessary focus and mentorship to achieve the desired growth outlined in the strategic plan.

Compounding the complexity of this mandate, the executive team and board wanted to bring in a diverse leader with a proven track record in a global manufacturing environment. They sought someone experienced in managing domestic concerns and possessing significant hands-on experience in India and China. Preferably, the candidate would be an engineer who fits the company’s uniquely positive culture.

The Solution

To identify diverse high achievers in the B2B global manufacturing arena, our Boyden’s team implemented a multi-faceted approach. This process included leveraging advanced data analytics, extensive networking, and industry-specific insights to locate and attract top candidates. Boyden employed sophisticated tools to analyze market trends, corporate data, and talent pools to pinpoint where the most qualified individuals were likely to be found. Proactively engaging with professional communities and networking helped Boyden connect with exceptional candidates. This meticulous approach ensured we could identify and secure highly sought-after talent, even in competitive markets.

The Results

Boyden produced a world-class shortlist comprised entirely of diverse global manufacturing leaders. The client was extremely pleased with the options. One candidate, in particular, caught the immediate attention of the CEO, who questioned whether we could persuade this person to join them. After extensive mutual due diligence, Boyden successfully helped negotiate an acceptable offer with the CEO’s top choice. The positive impact on the company was felt immediately when the candidate joined, and we look forward to witnessing her continued achievements going forward.
