Montfort, Ontario’s Francophone academic hospital, announces the appointment of Guy Couture to the position of Senior Vice-President, Finance and Administration. He will take up his post on October 30.
“After a cross-Canada search that generated a list of some 30 exceptional candidates, we’re thrilled to be able to welcome a leader of the calibre of Guy Couture to support the sustainable development of Montfort as an academic hospital,” said Dominic Giroux, President and CEO of Montfort.
Mr. Couture has served since 2018 as Director of Financial Resources and Logistics at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ) – Université Laval, under the President and CEO. He was responsible for a $360 million budget, a team of 300 employees as well as strategic directions for information and real estate resource projects, and negotiations with ministerial authorities for funding needs and organizational directions.
Prior to that he served as Assistant to the Director of Technical Services managing telecommunications and civil security infrastructure and leading continuous improvement initiatives as well as capital and physical facilities projects. The IUCPQ is a university hospital with 338 beds, ranking among the 22 leading research hospitals in Canada.
Before joining the health sector, he worked in the private sector for more than two decades, including 20 at Bell Mobility as a network and switching technician, team leader, interim principal and general director, which included overseeing operations for all of Canada’s wireless networks, and two years with Cogeco as assistant director, responsible for all facility operations, as well as upgrading and optimizing telecommunications networks. During this period, he managed operations in Ontario, including those in Ottawa for which he was directly responsible.
Early in his career, he was a certified linesman, leader and instructor in the 713 Communication Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve.
He sat on the boards of Cégep Limoilou and Partagec, an entity that manages shared services for all health facilities in the greater Quebec City area, where he also chaired the audit committee. He has co-chaired the Centraide campaign at the IUCPQ for five years and has been a regular lecturer on the subject of Lean Management in the MBA program at Université Laval.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a certificate in Computer Science from Université du Québec à Montréal, an MBA from Université Laval and certification in Human Leadership and Management from the Institute for Leadership. In addition to Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, he completed executive training at the Ivey Business School of Western University and the Schulich School of Business of York University.

In his new role at Montfort, he will be responsible for finance and the operations plan, assisting in decision-making and privacy protection, information technologies, infrastructure and security, food services, procurement, logistics, reprocessing of medical devices, Santé Montfort and the relationship with the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre Ottawa. He succeeds Mélanie Dubé, who held the position from 2017 to 2023.
