Home Care Ontario, the voice of home care in Ontario™, is a member-based organization representing providers of quality home care services from across Ontario. The Association advocates for the creation of a strong, reliable and accessible home care system that supports all Ontarians to recover or manage their health care issues at home. Association members represent an estimated 28,000 staff collectively serving 350,000 Ontarians per year.
Home Care Ontario endorses:
- the principles of the Canada Health Act and the Canadian health care system which delivers a range of essential health care services available to all residents of Canada on the basis of need, not ability to pay.
- and advocates for, the funding and resourcing of a strong publicly funded home care delivery system in Ontario made available through public administration and delivered by the private sector. In this system, individual home care service plans are determined by the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) and delivered by the service provider organizations chosen by the LHIN.
- the contribution of home care service provision that is currently available in addition to the publicly funded and publicly administered home care system. Currently, in Ontario, all home health care providers offer home care service beyond the levels provided through the publicly-funded and publicly-administered system in order to respond to the growing needs of individual Ontarians.
- and believes that all home health care service providers must be held equally accountable to deliver the highest standard of care in the home.
