Boyden Netherlands partners with Topvrouwen.nl to give our clients access to highly qualified female board candidates as well as advance our shared commitment to increasing opportunities for women to serve on boards.
The proportion of women on the boards of large companies in the Netherlands was less than 10% in 2014, with 11% on supervisory boards. 76% of boards do not have a single woman in the ranks; among supervisory boards, this is the case for 63%. The new Council of Europe Gender Equality Strategy 2018-2023 calls for public companies with 250+ employees to increase the share of women on both councils to 30% by 2023.
Boyden has a history of advancing board diversity and placing high-performing women in executive and board roles. President & CEO Trina Gordon is a vocal advocate. In 2011, under her leadership, Boyden was an initial signer of the Voluntary Code of Conduct for Executive Search Firms. The Code was recommended by the UK-commissioned Davies Report to bring more women onto corporate boards.
Topvrouwen.nl, founded in 2014, is dedicated to boardroom empowerment. The initiative makes highly qualified, board-ready women more visible in the Netherlands, and seeks to boost the flow of women to top positions by including them in its elite talent database. In the process, Topvrouwen.nl helps meet companies’ growing need for female candidates for the executive board and supervisory board.
