Boyden is pleased to share the appointment news of Dr. Petra Hauf, a recruitment co-led by Michelle Richard and Collin Ritch
Announcement by Paul J. Mazerolle, President and Vice-Chancellor, UNB:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Petra Hauf as UNB’s Provost and Vice-President Academic. As UNB’s current Vice-President Saint John, Dr. Hauf has proven to be an exceptional leader and advocate for UNB and I look forward to having her begin this new role on November 13.
Dr. Hauf came to Canada in 2006 through the Canada Research Chair program where she held the Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Development at St. Francis Xavier University (StFX). She was the first woman to hold the Dean of Science position at StFX before joining UNB as the Vice-President Saint John in 2019. Despite her move to administrative roles, Dr. Hauf has continued her NSERC-funded research - the role of motor skills for perceptual, social, and cognitive development during the first years of life.
As Vice-President Saint John at UNB, Dr. Hauf has embraced a transparent and collaborative approach to advance academic renewal and project innovation in support of our Saint John campus. As champion for the Integrated Health Initiative, and through her leadership roles with Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency, the Business Community Anti-Poverty Initiative, Prude Inc, among others, Dr. Hauf has established strong partnerships to enhance our university and province.
Dr. Hauf has a proven track record of advocating for and growing the portfolios she has led. She has demonstrated this as Vice-President Saint John at UNB and I am confident we will see innovation and growth of UNB’s academic mission under her leadership.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Hauf on this important appointment.
