Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) board of directors is delighted to announce that Tracey MacArthur will assume the position of Hamilton Health Sciences’ president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 15, 2024.
“Ms. MacArthur is a distinguished hospital executive with a strong track record of driving quality and research agendas at leading academic health sciences centres,” says Keith Monrose, chair, HHS board of directors. “We are confident that she will continue to inspire everyone at Hamilton Health Sciences to achieve our vision of best care for all.”
Ms. MacArthur has more than 25 years of leadership experience at research-intensive, academic health sciences centres in Ontario. Her professional focus on safety, continuous improvement, academia, research, inclusive leadership, and team performance aligns seamlessly with HHS’ overall strategic direction. She is a mission-driven leader whose drive and expertise will further grow HHS’ reputation as a leading Canadian academic health sciences organization.

Ms. MacArthur served for 11 years at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), where she held pivotal roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations, and Chief Information Officer. Prior to her tenure at CAMH, she held successive senior leadership positions over a decade at University Health Network. Her extensive leadership portfolio spans clinical operations, corporate services, research, commercialization, capital development, health informatics, privacy, and quality improvement, demonstrating her adeptness navigating the complexities of hospital operations.
Ms. MacArthur holds a Master of Science degree in Quality Improvement & Patient Safety from the University of Toronto, an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Waterloo, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University. She is also recognized for her efforts in mentoring new health administration graduate students, and is passionate about supporting women in leadership and STEM careers.
