Announcement by Bow Valley College, Vice President, Academic, Misheck Mwaba:
Alison is joining us from Prince George, British Columbia, where she is the Dean, School of University Studies and Career Access at the College of New Caledonia. She currently oversees programming in business and technology disciplines, including Applied Business Technology, Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, and Economics. She brings over 30 years of instructional, curriculum development, mentoring, and leadership experience from the College of New Caledonia and the University of Northern British Columbia.
In addition to dean, her career with College of New Caledonia has included being acting dean, Community and Continuing Education, associate dean, School of University Studies and Career Access, and interim associate dean, of School of Academic Foundations and Human Services. Further, she is currently part of the commerce faculty at the University of Northern British Columbia.
Alison possesses a strong knowledge of college culture, mandates, the complexities of our diverse learner population, and the educational philosophies that guide our teaching and learning approach.
Her entrepreneurial and innovative mindset will be an asset to the College as we develop and grow our footprint in Creative Technologies programming. Further, as a member of the Business Planning Review Committee with Community Futures in Prince George, she volunteers to review business plans for entrepreneurs and aspiring self-employed professionals.
Alison holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Northern British Columbia, a Provincial Instructor Diploma, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia. She also recently completed the Oxford Saïd Business School’s Executive Leadership Program.
I am confident that Alison’s diverse background, her learner-centered approach, and an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset will greatly benefit the Business and Technology portfolio.
