Join YW Calgary for their 10th anniversary YWHISPER, a virtually unmissable event, in partnership with The Walrus Talks at Home. Four special guests will share perspectives on Shifting the She-cession and what needs to be done for a more equitable future. Proceeds raised will support more than 5,500 vulnerable women and families served by YW Calgary each year.
This past year has been hard on everyone. It’s been even harder for vulnerable women and their families. That’s why this may be the most important YWHISPER yet. Though attendees won’t be able to meet in-person, they are committed to bringing the same YWHISPER energy, thought leadership and inspiring conversation to your living room.
The keynote speakers will unpack the disproportionate challenges faced by women and gender-diverse people as a result of the pandemic, and the opportunities to push for real systemic change as we move toward recovery. Featuring talks with:
- Armine Yalnizyan, economist and fellow on the future of workers, Atkinson Foundation
- Sally Armstrong, journalist and human rights activist
- Sheila North, director of strategic partnerships, Legacy Bowes, and former Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Grand Chief
- Ann Hui, author of Chop Suey Nation: The Legion Cafe and Other Stories from Canada’s Chinese Restaurants
