Boyden is pleased to share the appointment news of Dr. Kathleen McNutt, a recruitment co-led by Kevin Gregor, Kenny Gregor, and Dan Brown

Following a national search conducted according to the provisions of University policy on out-of-scope academic appointments, Dr Kathleen McNutt, currently Interim Vice-President (Research) and Professor of Public Policy in the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School, has been appointed Vice-President (Research). The five-year appointment is effective 1 July 2020. She is the first female Vice-President (Research) in the University's history.
Specializing in graduate education, Dr McNutt has supervised numerous graduate students over her career, and trained hundreds of public servants in policy analysis, program evaluation, and design. Over her career she has worked with all levels of government to advance evidence-based policy-making and public engagement.
Dr McNutt holds a BA from the University of Regina, an MA from the University of Alberta, and a PhD from Simon Fraser University. She maintains an active research agenda and has over 30 peer-reviewed scholarly publications, a variety of academic chapters and public reports, and has presented her research across Canada and Europe. Her current focus is on mainstreaming equity, diversity, and inclusion across complex institutional structures.
Dr McNutt served as the principal researcher on a provincial study of regional colleges, and as a member of the Ministry of Advanced Education Deputy Minister's Policy Panel on the future of postsecondary education. She currently chairs the Saskatchewan Higher Education Quality Assurance Board, and serves as a board member for the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina, the International Minerals Innovation Institute, the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation, TRIUMF Canada's particle accelerator centre, and the Canadian Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee.
