It is my pleasure to welcome Ian McDermott as Vice President, Facilities and Capital Development, who will join Sinai Health on Monday, January 20, 2025. Reporting directly to me, Ian will oversee the final transition of the Phase 3A redevelopment project to daily operations, capital planning, retail, security and building maintenance operations. His leadership will support our continuing efforts to adjust our spaces to meet current and future clinical and operational needs.
Ian comes to Sinai Health from the University Health Network (UHN) where he is the Executive Director, Redevelopment and Chief Planning Officer, responsible for all areas of space management, capital renewal, capital planning and construction, as well as specialized research facilities for all of UHN’s nearly seven million square feet. Ian is also the co-leader of UHN’s Facilities Maintenance – Planning, Redevelopment and Operations (FM-PRO) department and has been a member of the Senior Management Team for Research at UHN for the last 25 years.
With a specialist degree in Molecular Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto, Ian is an accomplished health-care executive with extensive experience in strategic building and facilities planning, design, construction and renovation in the areas of academic health care, research and education.
I would like to extend a thank you to the senior team of the Facilities and Capital Development portfolios for their leadership during this period of transition.
