Fredericton, NB - June 6, 2023

Dr. Shelley Rinehart, Chair of the New Brunswick Research and Productivity Council (RPC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Diane Botelho as the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of RPC, effective May 25, 2023. Diane Botelho, Ph.D. RPC Executive Director and CEO Dr. Botelho brings with her over a decade of experience with the innovation cycle from concept through to commercialization. She has led a number of successful teams providing scientific guidance to government, academic and industrial partners. In her former role as Chief Science Officer (CSO), Diane gave evidence of her leadership capabilities playing a significant role in strategic planning, development of new test methodologies and leading specialized research projects. Prior to her role as CSO, Diane was the Director of RPC’s air quality laboratories where she consulted with stakeholders and designed analytical methods to support health and safety initiatives.  

Diane strongly believes that youth mentorship is crucial for securing generations of scientific leadership in Atlantic Canada and leads several student mentorship initiatives at RPC. Diane is a chartered chemist with the Association of the Chemical Profession of Ontario, a registered biosafety officer with the Canadian Association for Biological Safety and an adjunct professor with the University of New Brunswick.  Away from RPC Diane enjoys dance activities and is a registered highland dance instructor with the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.
