The response was fantastic, and it got me thinking about the next logical step: rebranding yourself after a career break. Whether you’re re-entering the job market or pivoting to a new role, how you present yourself post-break can make all the difference. Let's explore how to reinvent your professional brand and ensure your comeback isn’t just a return - it’s a reinvention.

My Personal Rebranding Journey

Nine months ago, I found myself at a crossroads. After over 20 years in executive search, I realised I had unintentionally drifted away from engaging with my network. It was a wake-up call—a chance to pause, reflect, and rethink how I had been operating. The landscape of my work had shifted dramatically: the way I search, select, and present diverse candidates had evolved, and my clients’ needs and expectations had transformed too. In the midst of all this change, I also recognised that LinkedIn had become my core professional network, and I needed to reengage in a meaningful way.

This period of reflection wasn’t just about professional growth - it was personal, too. As I considered the legacy I want to leave behind, I realised that coaching and mentoring others is a passion of mine. I wanted to find ways to share my experiences, not just in executive search, but also in the lessons I’ve learned as a father of two young girls.

This journey led me to start sharing more through articles, insights, and reflections on both my professional and personal life. And just recently, this effort was recognised when I became a LinkedIn Top Voice in Executive Search - a recognition that reaffirmed my commitment to sharing knowledge and helping peers in my industry.
