Calgary, AB - May 01, 2020
Announcement by Bow Valley College, Vice President, Academic, Misheck Mwaba:
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Hana Taleb Imai as Dean, Global Access and Foundational Learning, effective May 1, 2020.
Hana is not new to Bow Valley College, having joined the College in 2002. She has over 20 years of academic and research experience combined with 13 years in leadership roles at Bow Valley College as program coordinator, acting dean, and associate dean to the division. Further, she has served two terms on the Board of Governors as a Faculty Association representative.
Hana's academic career began in English language learning instruction at Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, Mount Royal University, and Bow Valley College. Over the last 13 years with us, she has led new initiatives and special projects, managed curriculum development, led teams of 150 faculty and staff as acting dean, secured multi-million dollar federal and provincial funding for programs and innovation projects, managed the Diversity Advantage Action Plan, directed the Intercultural Centre, and enthusiastically championed the College's access mandate.
Hana's connectedness to the College community and established relationships with external agencies and governing bodies bring valuable and meaningful continuity to our organization in two of our largest schools.
Hana holds a Master of Education from the University of Calgary, a Bachelor of Arts in International Development and Rural Extension from the University of Guelph and a postgraduate certificate program in intercultural communication and global competence from the University of British Columbia.
Please join me in congratulating Hana on her new role.
Stay well and support each other as we persevere through these unprecedented times.
