The Faculty is unique in both its academic breadth and geographic scope. The Faculty offers Bachelor of Education programs on both of UBC’s campuses (Okanagan and Vancouver), and is also home to the world leading School of Kinesiology, as well as departments for educational and counselling psychology and special education, educational studies, language and literacy education, and curriculum and pedagogy. The Faculty is home to over 4,000 students, including 1,800 graduate students, and 165 faculty members.
The new Dean will bring a successful track record in significant administrative roles in research intensive universities. The Dean will have a strong track record in research and teaching, which they will bring to bear in their role in promoting excellence in both. A strategic leader with the capacity and vision to build on the momentum that the Faculty has achieved in recent years, the new Dean will be collaborative and have exceptional interpersonal skills. The new Dean’s background and credentials will merit an appointment as full professor in the Faculty of Education at UBC.
